http://www.vidaza.com/corporateweb/vidazaus/homeB.nsf/Content/Dosing?
Hit this link it is the Pharmion website with the Dosing info for Healthcare provides it shows for shots or iv and it is indicating 75 mg x2 and that is what bob gets for 7 days on and 21 -28 off. total 150mg. It is supposed to be every four weeks according to the site. Bobs counts are holding as best as possible. Whites are still higher then norm, hgb gets in the 10’s and plts are hovering 40’s and 50’s
TerriMemberContinued. Ok I meant AML not AMS. But Bob has not transformed to AML
TerriMemberJosey, Have your Drs office try, Our insurance company limits the Zofran odt to only 12 pills a month. I have to get the DRS office to call and fill out papers for the Ins Company to approve the full 30 pills for a month (They last Bob longer then a month but ) this is for Nausea and the cost is $1084. without the insurance paying but It got through. Our drs office also will put down as Bob diagnosis MDS, AMS and ITP for this reason on meds etc and the insurance.
TerriMemberSarah, Always thinking about you, always in my prayers, I have taken so much of your advise, Thank you for continuing to encourage the rest of us.

TerriMemberI hope Your Mom gets better, and definately add her to my prayers.
TerriMemberYou should try contacting the MFG- Pharmion Corp. They may be able to answer your questions on the availability to India.
Bob has been on vidaza for almost three years with a few months here and there off.
He has not been tx dependant, but His plts are in the 40’s and we can’t get them higher.
We have added Vitamins and supplements that help boost the Immune systemTerriMemberTalked to Bob’s doctor today about this, They have a large group part of the local hospital, So far they have not tried this and he indicated at this point would not go this route for Bob. He would need a port and since he is on Vidaza as maintenance and we see no end to it a port has too many risk – Bleeding during insertion, Infection etc etc. Doctor says as long as he can tolerate the shots keep doing the subq.
I wish they would approve an oral form.TerriMemberChuck, We have private insurance and the plan option is a Health Savings account where you put money in the account which covers deductibles and there is a tax credit at the end of the year. For instance we have a $5000 ded. The ded is applied to the Contracted rate with the provider and the insurance company and after that all else the insurance pays 100% For instance starting Jan we had a $5000 Ded. Bobs treatment for the month with the doctors office the Contracted payment amount was $21,000. (They billed the insurance 44,000) Well we pay the first $5000. Now for the rest of the year we will not have any copays or ded for any of his treatments or prescriptions.
TerriMemberMaureen, Our pharmacist indicated their is now a generic however they said the cost difference is not that much in my case when I went to purchase brand was $1041 I think the generic was in the $900 for the same 30 pills. I have a $5000 ded which we have now hit which after this all prescriptions/ and Doctors visits treatments will be handled by the insurance. We have a Health Savings Account plan and for Bob this has worked out well.
TerriMemberMaureen Where in Florida is he, A lot of offices have the Zofran ODT (The type that melts in your mouth) as samples they get them from the Pharmaceutical Rep. Bob Gets 30 pills a month they last more then a month but they run $1040. We have private insurance and it pays differently.
But I know if Bob forgets to take them the nurses always have some on hand.TerriMemberJosey, Bob’s platelets are very low and also since Bob is on vidaza over two years and will continue for as long as it keeps the disease at bay, They ae concerned as I am for infection for having to have it in that long. Most people have ports in maybe for 6 months But this would have to be forever at this point for bob and the Fact of inserting it when his plts are so low. We will still talk to the doctor more, But I worry about infections without a port and this opens things up for more chances.
I look for any responses to help usTerriMemberThink of you lots, So happy for Billy, He continues in my prayers.
God BlessFebruary 7, 2007 at 12:32 am in reply to: platelet counts dropping – has the vidaza stopped working? #17050TerriMemberBobs Platlets never get over 50 he has been on vidaza for over two years. We wish they would get up over a 100. He does the pineapple and other supplements but The plts don’t budge.
