Hi Teresa,
I don’t have anything to add, just wanted you to know that I am also a patient of Dr. Maness.
JackJack_dup1MemberHi Mary,
I had a routine physical and the family Doc. noticed Plt were 70 and Whites 3.2, she immediately sent me to a hematologist/oncologist, they did a BMB that day and diagnosed me three days later with CMML.
That was four years ago.
JackJack_dup1MemberSorry I posted, I was trying to get back to the subject of CBC’s and blast.
JackJack_dup1MemberI received my BMB results today, although my CBC said 1% blast in the blood, A manual count found no blast in the blood and 0.4% in the marrow.
JackJack_dup1MemberKatie,
I hope all going well, I know you will keep us posted and thoughts and prayers are with you, Dad,
and family.
JackJack_dup1MemberIra,
It is always great to hear good news, thanks for sharing and keep it up.
JackJack_dup1MemberChris and Sandy,
Very well written, I get scores of email from people who feel the same. Patti will be back, she needs the forum to fill some kind of void in her life.
JackJack_dup1MemberJonelle,
Again, my CBC from yesterday had the 1% blast in the blood listed on the form, the draw was taken one hour before I was given a copy and two hours before my BMB. It was a manual differential.
How can Patti speak for most CBC’s
JackJack_dup1MemberI just had my CBC with diff drawn one hour before Dr Appoint. The printout listed
Blast 1%, Metamyelocyte 4% i don’t know about this one, and of course the Lymph 12%, Neu Seg and Band 71%, Monocyte 10%, eso and baso 1%
And it listed the usual subjets, Whites 18.9. Platelets 77, reds normal.
JackJack_dup1MemberI was on Bactrum twice over the last 4 years had had to stop after two days because of horrible nightmares which would occur every time I dozed off, all night long. My Doctor said he had not heard of this happening before. As soon as I stopped the Bactrum, the nightmares stopped. No med. fits all.
JackJack_dup1MemberJonelle,
We I had my weekly CBC at my local hematogolist and I had blasts, it did not show up on the list, when I had them done at the Center of Excellence, they were listed, but only if I had blasts, now that my blasts are at zero, it is not on the list.
I think if the local doctor had requested blasts, they would have done it.
JackJack_dup1MemberJonelle,
I have enlarged spleen, but creatanine is always in normal range, I do have high Lactate Dehydrogenas (510) and take allopurinol to keep Uric acid normal
JackJack_dup1MemberChuck,
My Daughter in Law found it written in Polish, they live in Warsaw, my son looked up the English version. This really looks promising, Imagine a Chemo that only kills leukemia cells.
JackJack_dup1MemberI don’t know about the iron deficiency, this article was about lab testing to find a treatment using the enzymes to destroy leukemia cell withoug damaging health cell. There is a lot of research yet to be done, it does look promising. You have to read the whold article
JackJack_dup1MemberHere is the teaser for the article
Antioxidant found in many foods and red wine is potent and selective killer of leukemia cells
A naturally occurring compound found in many fruits and vegetables as well as red wine, selectively kills leukemia cells in culture while showing no discernible toxicity against healthy cells, according to a study by researchers at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. These findings, which were published online March 20 in the Journal of Biological Chemistry and will be in press on May 4, offer hope for a more selective, less toxic therapy for leukemia.
