my dad’s bmt doc recommend an SSRI for his nightly fevers. she said it worked for many of her MDS patients. i guess seratonin helps the body regulate temperature. so my dad took prozac every day and he never had another one of those fevers. i believe that any of the SSRI drugs will work for this. Lexapro, Paxil, etc.

    Stacey,
yes, it’s very unreal right now. it seems there’s been a lot of sadness on this list just recently.

    Mary and Jo,
yes, he was quite the guy! i can hardly believe he is gone. i miss him terribly already. the support of this list has been great, even though i have mostly just read posts and not posted a lot myself.

thank you so much. i think this thing has finally gotten the best of him. his body is really going down hill. the good thing is that mentally, spiritually and emotionally he is doing very very well.

my dad has taught geography for years. but he is officially on a leave of absence as of yesterday. he is just too weak to teach. the doc says he may not have much time left at all the way he is going. weeks. so he is putting his affairs in order and saying goodbye, etc.

my dad is also a middle school teacher! he is teaching part time this year as he doesn’t have the strength to teach the whole day. the kids have been fantastic! they really love him. my dad was so relieved to have the 3rd round postponed. i don’t blame him. it has really hit him hard.
my dad’s appetite has been really low with the vidaza. he says everything tastes bad.

how many rounds of Vidaza have you had? my dad has had two rounds. the first one did not exhaust him. the second made him so exhausted he stayed in bed all weekend and takes a very long nap every day now. he was scheduled to begin round 3 but they are delaying it until he gets some strength back.

    thanks, Eve!
