Thanks everyone. Wow I guess everyone reacts differently. We will try the completely empty stomach. I think I will try them myself and see what happens. A little dire rear wouln’t hurt me. We will continue to work Esiak into the diet. I think it is so important. My mom was saved from a death sentence by Laetril when it first came out. So I know these things can work. The best to all of you. Bernard and Bonnie

Egads, The article won’t come up without paying for it, but I can E-mail it to you. It is titled “Drug Duo: New Hope in cancer fight.” The study was presented at the Hematological Meeting in Atlanta. The Dr. is Joseph P. McGuirk, Oncology and Hematology at the Kansas City Cancer Center. Address is: 4320 Wornall RD, Suite 220
Kansas City, MO 64111 Tel. 816-531-1417

He is using AMD3100 and Neupogen to coax more stem cells out of your own bone marrow. They then freeze it until they have collected enough. Then you have a stem cell transplant of your own cells. It sounds like it might take more than one collection, but it sounds promising. I understand that trials are going on with this. Let us know, Thanks, Bernard and Bonnie

I looked on the address above and it didn’t come up to the same as mine. The article was printed on Dec. 13, 2005 if that helps. Bhanson

Hi, The only information I have earmarked on the stem cell collection was found in the Kansas City Star. They talk about giving you drugs to produce more stem cells. Is this the same procedure you are undergoing? I thought it sounded interesting, also. Here is the address of the article, along with a link for more information.

We would be interested in knowing more about your procedure. Thank you, Bernard and Bonnie

Thanks Neil, You answered my question about revlmid before I asked it. It is just so hard to sit and wait and do nothing until…but it seems to be the best way for us right now. Best wishes and thanks for your wisdom. Bernard and Bonnie

    Hi, Sherrygal
My husband had about 6 shots of aranesp a year ago and his Hemoglobin has maintained above 13 since then. We were worried about the Medicare thing, too, but when you need it again, you can get it. Our doc says below 11. Hope aranesp continues to help and don’t get discouraged. There is so much to know and everyone is different. Keep close tabs on the blood counts and with your hemotologist. Best of everything, bernard and bonnie

Hi Shane, this is the greatest site for information on alternative treatments you can use in addition to the standard. Our MD/acupucture/nutritionist from china suggested a peanut tea. It is posted here under “Peanuts.” However, if I lived in california, I would also check out “Peanut Milk” on the web. I have been hearing about its curing effects on all sorts of diseases, but it didn’t click until our recommendation of the peanut tea. Peanut milk is only sold in California, so far, but if you can get it, it is certainly worth a try. We are doing the standard treatments from our doc, but we are also doing the treatments recommended and tried by others on this forum. I am so greatful for their insights. My husband has been holding his own for a year with aranesp as his only treatment besides the “natural remedies” on this site. Good luck and don’t give up. Keep up with these wonderful caring people on the forum. Best regards, Bernard and Bonnie

Hi everyone and hope you all had a nice weekend. Diner, my husband was going to give up pineapple because of the sore mouth. So, I juiced the pineapple and gave him a straw. Hi could put the straw as far back in his mouth as he wanted to avoid the acidic effect of the pineapple. The only problem is now, he LOVES his pineapple and drinks a whole one a day. We showed the noni to our naturopath and she said it was fine to take. Thats all I know about that. My husbands platelets are holding steady. Best regarts and thanks to you all.

Thanks Jody, It helps alot to know what it is called and where to go for a better opinion and to talk to others with the same disease. We have started a file for him. I think his spleen is so big, they are afraid to take it out. It sticks way out of his body. Ouch. Thanks so much for your help. His family appreciates it very much. So far, they have only the VA in Walla Walla to look for. Best regards for you and your mother.

Hi shirlgirl, I don’t know what Cold Fx is in Canada, but I also take Zycam or Airborne(invented by a teacher) if I have a hint of anything coming on. It works for me,too. I also take Wellness from Source Naturals everyday. It is a combo of all the things that help you from getting those nasty little things going around. I work at the local high school which is a breeding ground for every virus and bacteria on earth. Everyone is getting sick around me, but I just increase my Wellness, Another Believer

Karenkay, my heart goes out to you. it is almost more than one human can bear. It is wonderful that you take care of your father. All you can do is your best. My husband has had schizo-affective disorder with severe depression for 37 years. He now has MDS to go along with it. I recognize all the symptoms that your father has. We have been through them all. It is a chemical imbalance and it is not is fault, but that does not make it easier to deal with. Absolutely get him to his physc. as often as possible. It really sounds to me that he is definitely not on the right meds for him. Sometimes it takes trying quite a few different meds and different combinations. My husband is on Zoloft, Doxepin, and Resperidone. Not real high doses, but each one treats a different aspect of the disease. Without these meds he would never be able to comply with treatment for MDS. Even now, I can’t be too pushy. He feels so bad, he says he would rather be seasick forever than to have depression one day. I had to push his physc. into this routine. I took my kids to help talk about the symptoms that their dad was displaying. Now, he looks back and can’t believe the difference. Your dads depression will make it extremely hard for him to comply with any therapy. It takes over. Everything else is an uphill battle, literally. Hope he can get it fixed. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there and GO FISHING!! Best Regards Bonnie

Thank you very much for your advice. We are on our way to get our supplements reviewed by a doctor of naturopathy tomorrow, so will asked her about the vitamins and the calcium. I have heard of the hypercalcimic problem, so will it checked out. The phosphorus seems important too. Thanks again. I will post my husband’s new regimen and see what you think. Thanks again and admire your inspirational care for your love ones, Bonnie
