Mary-
We have been fortunate so far in that the Vidaza did its job to get him ready for the BMT and no tx were needed during the 5 months he was on Vidaza. They found an unrelated donor relatively easy as well since my husband is adopted and does not know his birth family. We are just enjoying our family time right now since we know that it will be a while before we are all home together again. Thank you.

3kids1dogMemberMy husband has had 4 rounds of Vidaza via infusion in his port. He has not had any side effects and seems to tolerate it well.
3kids1dogMemberMy husband just finished his 4 round of Vidaza on a 5 day cycle rather than 7. Again we have had no insurance problems and I am assuming it is the same dosage as 7 just in a shorter window. For him it has something to do with a doctor not being at the office on the weekends when they administer the drug through his port. Hoping this round will put him a position to be ready for the BMT, keep your fingers crossed.
3kids1dogMemberJack-
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have been thinking of you and your wife when I have been reading the post and wondering how you both were. May God bless you and your family.

Good luck to you and your husband. I agree the 33% chance far outways the few weeks/months.
God bless you.
3kids1dogMemberI am sorry to hear about your father. I hope and pray for the best for you and your family during this difficult time.
3kids1dogMemberMy husband is wondering when he will have to stop teaching. He teaches PE/Health. What does your dad teach? His dr. said that we will address that again in a couple of weeks. I would like him to cut back so he can focus his eneregies on our kids instead of being tired and grumpy when he comes home. My husband did not like that his 2nd round was postponed, he just felt that it would then take that much longer to get to the BMT. I am glad to know about the increased fatigue however as the cycles continue and also the bad taste in the mouth. I guess he was fooled when the 1st round went so smoothly.
Takce care3kids1dogMemberHow is your husband doing with the SCT? Best of luck to you and your husband and to you too newlywedmds.
3kids1dogMemberMaybe it is in 2nd and subsequent rounds that are causing the exhaustion. I will have to watch my husband’s activity level more closely.
3kids1dogMemberThis time around my husband seems to have more fatigue but it is also in part because he is working full time. When he had the first round it was summer vacation and had plenty of time to relax(he is a teacher at a Middle School). He has also complained of a funny taste in his mouth. Anyone had that? He does get a Nuelasta shot tomorrow, we will keep our fingers crossed.
Deb I hope your father’s 3rd round is not postponed for long.3kids1dogMemberThoughts and prayers are with your family.
3kids1dogMemberThanks Deb. He started round 2 yesterday after it was delayed a week while doing another bone marrow biopsy. I hope that this time it goes well. I do understand that the counts will get lower and the fatigue will get worse. I guess we will take it a day at a time.
3kids1dogMemberMy husband is starting round 2 of Vidaza tomorrow so it was good to see what may happen. First round went with no real problems, fatigue only but wasn’t too bad. We will see what the next round brings. I know my husband’s doc has been giving him an antibiotic to keep infections at bay. He has been getting a severe reaction to mosquito bits in the last couple weeks that he has never had.
3kids1dogMemberMy understanding is that inducation is strictly inpatient. That was one reason my husband went towards the Vidaza when offered because he wanted to work and be home with our children. I agree about feeling kind of overwhelmed about the best treatment to try and where to go for that treatment. We are at cross roads at the best facility for us as well. As every case is different it is hard to determine which road to take.
3kids1dogMemberPrayers to your family. Thank you for putting yourself out there to being a sounding board for questions.
