    Dear Tah,

Like so many things, skepticism can be good and bad. It is good when it causes us to reject falsity. It is bad when it causes us to reject the truth. We can be hurt by believing in things that are not true. We can be hurt even more severely by refusing to believe the truth.

And so it is wisdom, discernment and a thirst for the truth that we all must seek above all else, whether the subject is politics, religion, family, or MDS.

    laters, my friend,

How would I know?? We’ve only had TV’s in GR for the past ten years. We get all of our info in GR from Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage. Since the vast majority of us conservatives can’t read, and are so myopic we can’t see more than 5-6 feet, we depend on the radio. Of course it took us until 1960 to learn how to turn them on. Actually, that’s not too bad since we didn’t have electricity until 1955 in GR.

Hmmmm. On the board that appointed Barbara Boxer. Was it before or after that that you had to escape to the mountains????

Did you get run out of town on a rail for making bad appointments???

C’mon Tah. Confession is good for the soul.

Thanks for the headsup. This stuff seems promising. Although the response rate is still low, the fact that the negative side effects appear to be minimal is huge. It would be nice to know more about the lifestyle, eating habits, etc of both the responders and nonresponders. Good stuff. Thanks much. Definitely worht watching, from what I can tell.

    Tah,

I think you just shortened my life. Choke. gag. uggh. barf etcetc. Hillary and Barbara Boxer. I don’t want to live to see it.

The Grand River rapids are not frozen over.

Peter is still a strong U Michigan fan. You see, Tah, us conservative midwesterners tend to be a loyal bunch. We make decisions based on conscience not on polls. We are often friendly with our neighbors, and rather than thinking that the government shoulder the responsibility for for the weak, think that the individuals ought to do it. We think that social welfare systems should be used very judiciously to avoid devaluation of the recipients.

Some of us,Tah, can even speak and write in complete sentences. We accept that there are absolutes, from which we gain direction.

BTW there was a breakfast place down in S. Tahoe called The Little Red Hut (as I recall). Is it still there??

You do live in a beautiful corner of God’s creation.

    Have a great day.

    Well, well,

I was sort of suspecting the worst of Tah. A Democrat and a politician??????? Tah, I understand completely. If I had those two traits imbedded into my personality, I’d use an alias also.

Do you think the mountain air has left him light headed, or is it because he lives so close to San Fran????? Holy Cow, a frightening thought just occurred to me. My third son, Peter, is just finishing off a PhD in materials engineering at Stanford. His wife, Amy, is just finishing off a law degree at Berkeley (the snakepit of socialist thought in America). Do you think either of them could end up like Tah????????? I gotta get them out of there. Yikes. Horrors. Tah, if you have even one ounce of decency in that body and mind now ravaged by liberalism, can you help?? Don’t let future generations follow you down the road to oblivion.

    Ah, it’s probably no use.

Could it be that the mysterious Mr. Donner is really Gray Davis????? hmmm. Last name of both starts w a D. hmmmm.

BTW Tah, what did you think of your good governor’s speech at the Republican National Convention????? And what did you think of the Iraqi vote turnout???

    Have a great day.

The Donner party was near starvation during the winter of 1857?? Nice cookbook title, big guy. I guess I should have rooted around until I found you. I’m convinced we would have had some fun at lunch. It might have gotten ugly, however, when the tab came around.

I agree that Truckee seems like a beautiful area. The weather’s a bit on the mild side, however. I guess that’s where the wusses went who couldn’t handle Michigan.

We skied Heavenly, Squaw Valley and Mt Rose. Mt Rose recently opened a bunch of double black chutes. My kids once again tried to kill off the old man on the nasty runs, but once again, thankfully, they didn’t quite succeed.

I’m sorry to hear your numbers are dropping. Since it is your decision to avoid conventional treatment other than palliative care, why not try approaches w only good side effects, which is what I have done?? What do you have to lose? I certainly have not regretted my decisions. Open your mind up, my friend. Consider. Time to think outside of the box???? If you don’t want to try the weirder stuff, get yourself a Greenstar juicer and go after the veggie juice to add to your regular diet. Hallelujah Acres has some good stuff on that, although I do agree w Dr. Gonzalez that those w blood disorders generally need red meat.

PS I like your play on MDS. I’ve always been very fond of the mountains.

My mother is almost 90 and weakening. She feels more connected to heaven than earth. Her favorite expression now is “absent from the body, present with the Lord”. She has seen her husband of 63 years and her oldest son pass on before her. She wants to join them. She is very comfortable in her Christian beliefs. I don’t discourage her from having those thoughts. It’s her time. I accept that. Ecclesiastes speaks about there being a time for everything.

My brother Dan’s recent death was to us sudden and unexpected. One of Dan’s vehicles was company owned. Since I now owned the business by myself, I got the vehicle. The first time I drove it, I noticed a tape in the tape player. For no particular reason I turned it on. I was a bit shocked to hear the voice of Dan introducing the speaker to a men’s group. The speaker was in fact my father who served as a pastor in the Chicago and Detroit areas for most of 70 years before he passed in 1999 at age 89.

The message on the tape in Dan’s car, which might have been one of the last things Dan listened to was about heaven. Hmmmmmmmmm. I for sure will hang on to that tape.

Thank you all for those kind and supportive remarks. I feel humbled and encouraged.

If any of you decide to read this book, I would appreciate your feedback. I found it to be very insightful and helpful. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

    Hi Tah,

I haven’t been checking the forum too much lately due to the unexpected passing of my brother who was also my friend and law partner on Nov 28th.

As usual I can’t resist the opportunity to respond to your very outspoken but sometimes misguided comments. I do, however, very much enjoy reviewing your comments which are so critical of my position which is that people ought to be considering the use of nutritional and alternative therapies since the conventional ones usually don’t work for MDS and because nutritional therapies have only good side effects. I believe that if I am truly comfortable with my position, I should not be upset by those who have a different perspective. I hope you feel the same way.

Like you, I am skeptical about accepting the validity of nutritionists based solely on credentials. In fact, I’m not using one. My program is based on my own independent study and networking w a variety of individuals.

The other side of the coin, however, is that I am also very skeptical of those highly educated, impeccably licensed individuals who pass off poisons and dangerous toxic substances as helpful when they often do not extend life and only insure that the remaining time will be spent feeling weak and sick.

How about you, Tah, are you also skeptical of conventional medicine??? Are you willing to ask the hard questions of conventional medicine???

Yes, I believe that caveat emptor (let the buyer beware) should apply to nutritional and alternative approaches. But I also believe that medical consumer should also be fully informed about the conventional approaches–bad and good.

Have you been reading the news lately about all the about all the supposedly benign drugs that are now being pulled from the shelves because these treatments, sometimes for conditions the person would recover from anyway, are now confirmed to be very harmful??????????

We are far too quick to give up on our body’s recuperative powers even from serious illness IF we give our bodies the care it needs to operate at peak efficiency.

For those of you who are new to the forum, you might want to check out my story and treatment protocol at http://www.geocities.com/marlakins/index.html

    Hi Tah,

I hadn’t heard from you in a while. I hope all is well. While I don’t disagree w your advice, one must bear in mind that the vast majority of the doctors have very little knowledge re nutritional and alternative approaches. It simply isn’t what they’ve been taught and is not in the realm of what they prescribe. The problem with what doctors prescribe for MDS is that it generally doesn’t work. So why not try something with only good side effects that has some history of success. That approach certainly has worked for me so far.

    John

I’m not sure what you mean by “self medicate”.
