Shellie, when faced with a serious illness, you get frightened. However most peoples will to live kicks in and you make choices. You can either give in to it,or decide to fight back. Your Dad needs to get to the point he wants to fight back, educate himself and live the best quality life he can with a positive outlook.
    Hope he improves soon,

Bill , so glad your appointment went well. We felt the same way with our first trip to the Hutch. Thats where we want to be also if we find a match. I am glad you are happy with your decision. You are fortunate. Hutch has been searching 3 years for my husband for a match, nothing has even come close. He has a very unusual combination of antigens. We keep hoping and praying to find that one special match. Best of luck to you.

Andrzej, my first thought in the US is Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Seattle WA. On the MDS Homepage you will find links to Centers of Excellence both in US and outside US. They should provide stats on transplants.
    Take care,
    Sarah
