    Marsha,

Hang in there you’re 7 1/2 months out only another 4 1/2 to the one year mark. Eat some ice cream for me along with all those other sweet things.

    Carrie,

So sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he does better soon. Good luck with family medical leave forms. Below is a link to the forms that you & employeer will have to fill out. My mom had a hard time with this when she first went on FMLA. I ended up faxing the forms to Dr. to fill out and for my mom to take back to her boss.

Hopefully you won’t have any trouble with getting family medical leave from work.

Best of luck to you and your father, my prayers are with you.

THanks for the replies. We do have a case worker with the insurance company, and a financial case worker at the hospital. I know there will be bills that we are responsible for no matter what the insurance company decides. Since my mom has been a nurse for so long, until she is off of work for a month will she qualify for ssd and well, medcare /caide is not an option right now cause she has more than $15K in the bank.

    Suzanne,

we were told it was going to cost $300K and mom’s policy has a max pay out per year of $100K how would we get around this?

I order 2 bags of the red and white to hand out to family / friends and a bag of blue since we are going Wed. for the intial write up. Would be nice if I would get them before Wed. but doubt I will.

    di,

Sorry to hear about your husband. Some things that the group will ask you is his classification of MDS, RARS for example. If Neil is still around and sees your post he’s very good about filling you in. He’s had the desease for some time now.

The one thing I’ve learned from my mom is that she takes a lot of naps, when her energy is way low we know her hemoglobin is way down, She has never complained to me about body itches or leg pains, besides the other month when her job changed and she was walking more than before. Encourgage your husband to get out of bed and walk a little cuase that will help keep his strength up.

the only true cure for MDS to date is a Bone Marrow Transplant. Drugs such as Procrit and Vidaza will keep counts stable, but not everyone reacts to these drugs.

    Hope this helps.

My prayers are with you, Keep your chin up, keep a smile on your face. Stay positive. One of these days they will find a cure besides a bmt.

    Lots of love and hugs!
