Kathryn,my boyfriend finished his third round of chemo so i have a little experience.I know that his values of wbc, platelets and hmg are very small for a week,a week and a half, but after that the values become normal,or at least are growing(this is what our doctor told us).But he eats a lot,too much i can see but i think this is a good think for him.I hope your dad will recover soon, and please take care of any kind of infection during this chemo.

Thank you Suzanne.I understand that your complete remission is doing from some time,so what type of AML you have?My boyhriend takes Diamalin(with tretinoin) and chemo (now it is at his second round of chemo)and his blood tests on friday were normal(6800 wc,hmg 12 and 230000platelets).I just want to ask you i after this round of chemo that values will decrease again, and for how long?I ask you this because i saw that you have made chemo and maybe you can help, here docs are not so comunicative.

Thanks a lot,Andrzej. Our hopes are many because his doctor told us that being 22 years older he has many chance to be cured, but i don’t know if this means some years to live or no APL.I will look at that link and thanks again.

Hi,Alexa,i think that i am speaking about the same boy you mentioned in your post in january 24.But he is not so bad,now he is feeling very good,he must do his second step of chemoterapy and hope it is very good for him.Ater his first round of chemoterapy Dc. told me that his blast cells don’t apear anymore and that he will be cured. And this is why i ask if maybe he has MDS,which is not cancer.Today his white cells were 3800,his platelets are 260 000 and his hmg was 12,2.So,Neil,if you can help telling me if he may have MDS,and not AML?
