    Patti,
Wow, I can only pray that my dad’s new doc will actually look at his situation the way your new doc is.
I continue to hope and pray for the best for your mom.
With all the stress, a fight was probably coming. Sometimes, it gets rid of pent up anxiety. I hope you hugged and made up smile
I personally would ask for a blood test next week. Even if it is just the lab work, getting the results may make the doc want to see her sooner. And if you see something that makes you worry, you can push to see the doc.
I don’t know what ATG or decitabine is?? If you care to educate me, I would love to learn.
    Prayers and hugs,
    karenk

Thank you all for the encouragement and prayers. It means so much to me right now!!
Today, the weather was horrible, but around noon I made the 60 mile drive to go check on my dad. He is responding well to the antibiotics, he is receiving two more units of blood and his hydration is coming up. So, on that front, things look pretty good. The rehab facility is ready to take him back as soon as he is stable, which they say could be as soon as tomorrow. On Thursday, his friend, Kathy, from Chicago is coming for a short visit. She will be here until Tuesday and I am going to take the weekend to do some Christmas shopping.
As you read above, dr. z’s office left me that message yeaterday and upon speaking with the nurse, she said that dr. z would call me this morning. He never called today at all!!!! Can you believe it? Of course you can.
So, I made an appointment with Dr. Walters (thanks Patti) and they will handle the switch. I decided even if I don’t like the new doc, at least I don’t have to deal with this one anymore. I am willing to try anything. So, no more dr. z!! We see new doc on Dec. 14th. This will work out fine since he is getting two units today and the 14th will be about two weeks.
Thanks again everyone, I just love you guys.
My prayers are with all of us,

I had to save this and post today, for some reason the forum wouldn’t let me post yesterday.
My dad got out of the hosp. today and is back at rehab. He is on antibiotics for the next two weeks, so hopefully that will help. He seems to be feeling better. Keep up the prayers my fellow warriors wink
never heard from dr. z office today (wed) either, go figure

    Margaret,
I empathize with your plight. My father takes NO PART at all in his well being. I have to agree with the others that it is smart to not take that responsibility on, because it is a defeating task.
I admire you (and so many others on this forum)so much, I feel very unqualified to say anything, except that I continue to keep you in my prayers.
I certainly hope that Luke feels better!! My sister in law suffers from kidney stones, I am going to tell her about the lemon juice idea that Patti shared.
Good for you for continuing to go to the gym!! Keep strong and God blessings,

I am so sorry you had a rough day!! I know exactly what you mean about people needing an advocate and I join you in prayer that everyone has someone watching out for them.
I hope the extra blood helps your MIL.
I too had a rough day, but I will post my own rant!! You deserve this one to yourself. laugh
Hang in there and thank God your MIL has you.
    God bless!!

    Patti,
Actually, I talked to a friend today who is being treated by Montgomery for her breast cancer and she was not too excited about Montgomery. She described his attitude, bedside manner with her the same as Z. I was disappointed to say the least. So…
Now, this is also the second time I have heard Walter’s name too. He is the head of the department so I question his availability, but I am going to check into all of this.
I can’t thank you enough for following up on this. I really do appreciate it.
I like the suggestion of asking for a consult. Especially since I have heard different opinion of Montgomery.
I will keep you guys posted.

    Margaret- Amen, sister, Amen. smile

    Patti-
How funny!!! I couldn’t help but laugh, that does seem to describe Zuckerman (I do not doubt his intelligence, or his ego). He seems to like me ok, but he doesn’t have a lot of time for my dad.
He told us he thinks medicare won’t pay for this or that and that PT is a silly notion. Get your butt off the bed and do some walking, no need for PT. UGH! My dad is so depressed.
I have decided that I am going to make an appointment with Dr. Montgomery for a second opinion. This is the second time his name has come up. And he also works at the VA and MSTI (this is why we chose Zuckerman).
I have never switched doctors within the same practice like this. How do I do it? I guess I will have to ask if Dr. Montgomery will see my dad to begin with.
I will call tomorrow. Just hearing he is more compassionate makes me interested in trying him.
Thanks, Patti. You are a blessing to me.

    caroline,
I am so happy for the good outcome, but it is entirely too bad about the medical staff. How many times people have the opportunity to do something small that can make a huge difference and they choose not to. Compassion is so important, at least it makes the difference for me. I am sorry your dad wasn’t shown it right away.
However, I rejoice with you that he is doing so well and eating. I will continue to pray for all of us.
