Caroline, I’m sorry you lost your job but at least you won’t have to worry about trying to be with your dad and not getting your job done. I’m so glad your dad is doing better. I’ll keep him in my prayers. Dee
dinerMemberMargaret,
Lots of luck to you. I’m starting my 3rd cycle of Vidaza Sunday. Luke’s counts will go up and down which is suppose to happen. My doctor would not consider me giving my own shots. We go to his office every day. Sometimes the nurses have a little trouble getting all of the serum in because it’s so thick. My doc (an oncologist) also wants to keep close watch on my blood counts because if they go too far down, I need a transfusion before getting another shot. You have to be very closely monitored. I sure hope you can find someone to help you out. I’ll keep you in my prayers. There is one more person that just started the Vidaza shots with another doctor in the same office where I go and we are keeping notes on each other through E-mail. DeedinerMemberJules, I’m assuming your BMB was good. You have been the one I have been encouraged by with the results you’ve had from Vidaza. I’m starting my 3rd cycle Sunday. My counts went up a week ago and then down 5 days later. I got real excited and then deflated. Dee
dinerMemberThanks all of you who answered my question about Vidaza affecting my counts. I’m sure hoping it works since I’ve already had a stem cell transplant and the Vidaza is my only choice until as you say, “something better comes along”.
Appreciate this forum, everyone is so helpful and caring. God bless. DeedinerMemberTheresa, What a terrible ordeal for you all to go through. I don’t know anything to tell you except that God can heal. Keep faith and I will keep your dad in my prayers. Dee
dinerMemberChip, I almost forgot to ask. Where do you get your shots? I get mine on my upper legs, they said my stomach doesn’t have enough fat. I don’t want them on my arms because they already have enough bruises. Dee
dinerMemberThanks everyone for the advise on the shot sites. I’ll definitely tell the nurse to go slowly tomorrow, although it seems she does, but my platelet problem prob. has a lot to do with the bruising. The nurse does warm the serum between her hands and twirls it a lot. This will be the last week of my second cycle. Dee
dinerMemberWarren,
I’m also sorry to hear about your MDS. When I first was dx with it, I was so scared and looked up everything I could find on the internet which helped but gave me tension neck and headaches. I am 62 and have been through 10 years of fighting Non-Hodkins lymphoma and 2 yrs. ago got MDS from all the treatment I had. I am trying to take one day at a time now. I am a lot older than you, but don’t feel more than 40 unless I’m having a bad day. I am trying a new treatment (Vidaza) in hopes it will help. Keep you faith up and take a day at a time. The people on this site are great for advise too.
DeedinerMemberHi Esme,
I wish the best of luck to Hans with his treatments. I hope you are able to get away for awhile. My husband and I are really wanting to do the same but so far can’t fit it in because of my Vidaza shots and I just had a portacath put in and I had a lot harder time with healing because of my platelets. DeedinerMemberGosh, everyone that may be hit by hurricane Wilma, I will pray for your safety. I can’t imagine being in such a situation. Dee
dinerMemberI’m with all of you guys. What a confused mess this new drug coverage is going to be. Right now I get the more spendy drugs for my mom free from different pharmcutal companies, but one company won’t give her anymore because they said she can sign up for the drug coverage under Medicare. Luckily my husband has good coverage on us from the place where he worked but that might be dropped at any time because of the government mess. Dee
dinerMemberBarb, I’m so glad your husband is starting to do better. We just take things day by day. I hope he gets on his feet soon. I also agree he needs to get up as soon as possible and walk around. Take care. Dee
dinerMemberMarie, What grief you have had to bear to lose not only a husband but a son. I can’t even fathom such a loss. It hurt so much to read your E-mail about your son. I will pray for God to give you strength and also his wife and family. I pray your happy times will be a great comfort to you. Dee
dinerMemberI’d like to try the juicing thing but am afraid to because the inside of my mouth is always getting canker sores from much fruit. Any other ideas besides fruit? My platelets are a real problem and were only 2,000 when I was x-fused Sunday. Dee
dinerMemberBarb, I’m so sorry to hear about your husband’s reaction to Vidaza. I’ve only had one round of it last month and haven’t started up again until my blood counts look better. I also have a low platelet problem, even before the treatments. I was in hosp. over the weekend to get more platelets and they went up to 65,000, by Wed. when I saw the doc again, they were only 6,000. My kidneys and liver checked out okay. How big of a dose is he getting. The doc’s going slow with me. Dee
