    Hi Bety:

My husband has been going through Vidaza now for 5 sessions and he will have another BMB on the 19th of this month. Hopefully, the oncologist will know if Vidaza is working for his AML. In the meantime, he had a Port put in…just in case he will need Tx in the future.

Wish us luck and Pray for us, please

Hope that helps answer some of your questions.

    Hello All:

Jim thought he might have a heart problem, so he went through some test. He will not see the heart doc. until the 16. Meantime, he will start his Vidaza on the 6th for 7 days. I hope that he feels ok during that time zone. We had an appointment to have a cleaning girl come in to do the hard work but we had to cancel. Way to many things going around with me as well as Jim. His BMB is on the 19th and I will have Catarac surgery on the 2nd of September.

We will know if the vidaza is working after the BMB. If not who knows what will be next.

Pray for both of us, we really need your prayers.

I wish Jim and I could do some juicing but since we are both on Coumadin and we have to stay away from Vit. K, which is green veg. it is hard to try and eat well. I still have a salad every day and chicken, meat and/or a veg of some kind for dinner. I have always been a health freak so, Jim is getting his vit and a balanced diet.

I hope that helps fome of you.

By the way, Jim turned 74 last July and we are still hoping that we can still go on a cruise in Jan, 07. It will have to be after his chemo. He starts his 5th round on Friday the 6th and then goes through a BMB on the 19th. I prya that all is well with him.

    Hi again:

We hope that Jim starts chemo this week but it doesn’t look like that is going to happen. They have to order the Vidaza, then the Oncologist has to say it is ok, then the pharmacy will let Jim know when they get it. Jim takes his Vidaza at the IV lab at Del Webb hospital. One good thing is that the hospital is close to where we live.

They re-scheduled my Cataract sugery for November 2nd. I just hope that I don’t have to cancel this one.

Hi and it has been some time since I wrote to you about my husband Jim.

He starts his 4th round of Vidaza tomorrow for 7 days. I hope he feels well, so that he can go through the whole cycle without getting sick, or being in the hospital. He always seems to feel real good just before he starts chemo again each month.

As of 8/28/06 his CBC were: WBC – 3.8, RBC-3.92, ROW – 16.0, Monocytes 2 L, Glucose, serum 102. New blood test on Tuesday.

We are hoping to get away for 2 days and go to Laughlin on the 17-18. That will be before he see’s the Oncologist on the 25th.

I will be starting Group Therapy because of everything I am going through now.

So, please just continue Praying for us and everyone else on the forum…we all need your prayers.

Thanks and good luck to you all.

So sorry to hear about all you are going through. My husband was dix with MDS in 05 and started Vidaza 3 months ago. His CBC’s have been pretty good except for the 1st session of Vidaza, when he ending up in ER and then a hospital stay of 1 week with an infection. His BMB was 29, so the Oncologist started him on a very aggresive dose of Vidaza…for that reason he ended up in the hospital.

She lowered his Vidaza by 25%. Since then his Blood count has been much better. Saw the doc today and she said that if she stopped the Vidaza now, his blood count would go up and that is bad. WBC: 3.8 RBC: 3.92 RDW: 16.0. That was his last blood count as of 08/28.

Good luck and hope to heargood news from you soon.

    Hi Jen:

My husband was diagnosed with RAEB2 in 05. He is on Vidaza going on the 4th round on the 31st. The first round was pretty bad, because the Onc. was being aggresive. She cut down the amount by 25% and he has been feeling much better.

Do what we do…Take one day at the time and really enjoy the time he feels real good, which should be the days after the chemo. We hope to go away for a few days inbetween the rest period.

I wish you the best of luck.

    Fran

By the way his BMB was 29 and we are hoping that the next time he takes it we will see a big drop. Onc. wants to wait until he finishes the 6th round.

My husband was diog. with MDS in July of 05 and he just went through 3 session of Vidaza. He will be starting his 4 session on the 31st of this month. After his 3rd wound he still felt real tired for at least a week after he stopped. He is still tired, sleeps a lot and if I go shopping he just sits in a chair and waits for me. He eats pretty good and that is good.

So, I think the MDS has everything to do with you being so tired and not getting sleep at night.

    Hi Dennis:

Jim had a Port put in in July and the Onc. said that she is changing his Vidaza to Dacogen. I don’t know if he will be getting it in the Onc. office or the hospital IV lab/ He will see the doc on the 29th of this month. He will have 2 blood test before seeing her. It really depends on the WBC and the RBC numbers.
