I do know that Cleveland Clinic is considered a Center of Excellence for MDS. You may want to check that out and see if she is willing to go and meet with some of the doctors.
AprilMemberWhere does she live in Ohio?
AprilMemberTerri ~ I do feel like all of you are my family. It’s sad to say, but it is very nice having all of you to talk to about this because you have been thru/going thru the same thing. She is starting to look thin everywhere except for her stomach. Here’s praying that everyone will have a good weekend.
AprilMemberI’m soooooo sorry about your dad. I will be praying for you and your family.
AprilMemberKathy ~ My mom-in-law is the same as Greg’s mom. She was treated for Breast Cancer in 96/97 and it was 5 years b4 she was told she had MDS. I think it all depends on how strong the Chemo/radiation is as to if they will develop MDS.
AprilMemberBarb ~ my mom-in-law’s tx lasted about 3-4 weeks b4 she transferred to AML. Sometimes she would go longer. She was getting Plts every other week and was getting blood every 3 weeks.
AprilMemberYes Kathy I have wrote about them b4 and you know it was getting better there for a little bit then it all blew up again last night. Mom don’t need this right now and I just kills me that Ron (rob’s brother) is still being the ass that he is.
We have hospice right now and they have been a great help. She ate pretty good yesterday but the fevers are brining her down each day. She seems to get them in the evening and thru the night. I hate to say this, but I’m just praying that this is all over soon. I hate seeing her like this and having to put up with her kids and being sick all at the same time.
AprilMemberThat is great news Cathy. Tell Troy to keep up the good work (& you 2).
AprilMemberThat is wonderful Jody!!! Your mom must be relieved and happy!!! Sounds like the meds are working..good for her!
AprilMemberKathy ~ Thank you for that. Rob’s family is not close at all, which is the bad part. I come from a family of 6 (i’m the oldest) and we are all very close, but Rob’s family is strange…But that’s a totally different story…She is not doing well today she is keeping a temp of 100 – 102. They are giving her tylenol but as soon as it wears off her temp goes right back up. Her belly is starting to swell pretty bad..so I don’t know..it just seems like she will be gone faster than we expected…
AprilMemberKate ~ We will be praying that George gets to come home SOON! I’m very happy that he is feeling better and eating well.
AprilMemberThank you so much for the support. My husband is having a really hard time. He is 34 years old and he is getting ready to loose his mom. His dad passed away in 1996 and now this. I just can’t imagine what he is going thru. Plus, for some that didn’t know, he is the baby of 6 so him and his mom has always had a special bond.
So far she is doing good, except for the cellulitis(sp) in her leg and arm. Her leg looks awful. She is still keeping a temp because of this infection, but she has been up and moving around. I just pray that the Lord will take her peacefully..I would hate to have her suffer, but I know that is something that we can’t control.
Thanks again everyone…
AprilMemberCongrats Terri & Bob!!!! Nothing like a new grandbaby to start off the new year!!!
AprilMemberNeil ~ Please know that my thought and prayers are with you and your mom.
AprilMemberAlexa ~ You can share your thoughts anytime!!! Regardless if they are good or bad. Sometimes posting something like this is more helpful to you than you think. To just be able to vent and not be judged is great! Never feel sorry for sharing your thoughts. We will be praying that the Lord will help you thru this. I know that sometimes it’s probably hard to understand why God has put this on you and you probably feel like he has let you down. But try to keep your spirit up and just live one day at a time. If you need anything, I will always be here. If it is to vent, cry, whatever..just let me know…
