It made my heart so sad to her your news. I am so sorry. You and George are in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted on how you both are doing. Keep the faith & take good care of yourself.

KathrynMemberHey again… Just thought I would let you all know that he came home from the doctor’s office w/, from what my dad says, exercises to strengthen his legs and the advice “to hang in there”… My dad seemed disappointed. I don’t think we have all of the details of why he actually went though. I didn’t mention his fall, but I am wondering if they even addressed it or the bruising.
What are the warning signs of someone bleeding internally? What are the chances of bleeding internally when one falls w/ very low platelets?
Kathryn
KathrynMemberWow, what a wonderful man that George is and what a special boy Billy is! Truly inspirational!
Bill, I have experienced only a teeny-tiny portion of what you have w/ having a child w/ medical needs. I can only imagine what your journey has been like to this point. Parents like yourself are truly amazing.
You both are in my thoughts and prayers. May your journey only continue to brighten and your lives be filled w/ love, peace & awesome adventures!
Kathryn
KathrynMemberSarah, my bro. is actually from Savannah, but has a house in Andrews. It is so beautiful up there!
As for the bleeding, I am not sure where it is coming from. We didn’t even know he had fallen until my stepmother told my brother on the phone from the doc.’s office.
Thanks so much for your prayers.
Kathryn
KathrynMemberAlso, apparently he was bleeding last night…. bad enough to change mattress pads, sheets, etc..
If you can, please give me more info. regarding this or tell me where I can go to get more info….
Thanks,
Kat.
KathrynMemberHey you guys, thanks.
I saw my father today and he was on his way to his gen. doctor. This is rare because he won’t go to the doc. unless he feels that it is critical or he has to. My brother had come to town from North Carolina to see him, so you can see how urgent he felt it was. His legs are extremely weak and he fell last night. Apparently he has a big spot/bruise on his back. His heart may be bothing him as well… that could be due to anxiety though. His arms were covered in spots.
His hemo. doc. is supposedly very involved w/ trials and was planning on putting my father on another drug that will be available in June.
Kat.

KathrynMemberHey Jody, thanks, it definitely clears some things up and confirms my suspicions.

KathrynMemberNancy, my father has CMML and I am wondering about the same things you are. It can be rather confusing. My dad starts his second round of Viadza soon, but hasn’t recovered from the first one yet. I hope your mother sees some improvement soon. Best wishes to you both…
Suzanne, are myelocytes the same as blasts? Last I heard, and it has been a bit, my father’s were at 56%. W/ CMML, would this be considered AML or AMML?
Thanks,
Kathryn
KathrynMemberHi Esme, thank you for the update. I went to your page and your pictures are lovely.
I hope the treatment continues to go well. Better days are ahead and as I tell my father…Behind the darkest of clouds, the sun is always shining.
Take good care,
Kathryn
KathrynMemberJody, that is wonderful! Keep the good news coming! Gives us all hope!
Kathryn
KathrynMemberKaren,
Good for you, not to mention your father, for your going through his records. You really have to be an advocate. Prior to an appointment, I faxed a 22 page report from my daughter’s evaluation to a neurologist so that he would be prepared. At our appointment he sat down and said “what can I do for you?”…. It was obvious he hadn’t read the report and I really needed his guidance. That day I switched doctors. It is very concerning how some doctors can be, especially when you are dealing w/ such delicate situations. It forces you to take the bull by the horns…..
I hope that everything goes well at Loyola for your father. With you looking out for his best interests, I am sure it will be fine. I’ll be praying for him.
Take care,
Kathryn
KathrynMemberHi Neil, thank you so much for taking the time to post this information.
I was wondering why no to Vitamin E. My father has previously been taking it, but I am not sure if he is taking it at this time. He’s had one tx. a month or so ago. His count was down in the very low teens. It went back up, but was still low compared to the “norm”. He just finished his first round of Vidaza and at his visit to the doc. on Monday his count was down to 14. He is going back again tomorrow for another check to see if they have changed. If the count is lower, I believe they are going to do another tx. He is scheduled for his second round of Vidaza in a couple of weeks.
Best wishes,
Kathryn
