Dear Ellie,
My prayers are with you and your family. I lost my husband Kornel on Oct. 7, just two days after Glen, we also fought a difficult battle with infections and fever. God needed angels.
Blessings, Gloriahusband dx Jan.06, MDS,RARS, turned to AML 05,06 died on Oct. 7, 06 after a hard fight.
EngelMemberThank you all dear friends, in one weeks time I received 106 sympathy cards and money was send to the MDS foundation in his name. I am taking his ashes with my daughter to our home town in Hungary and he will have a tombstone there, it was his last wish. I am also strongly questioning all that was done and not done during my husbands illness. Whatever you all do ask questions and keep records, only you know how you feel and how your loved one feels do not take anything for granted that the doctors tell you. This pain for me will never go away, but I will be out there fighting for all who have this horrible disease. Love you all, Gloria
EngelMemberKristy,
Wishing you and your Mom all the best, my prayers are always for the wonderful people on this forum and wishing them good health again. My husband had such hope and would have tried anything that was out there, but the Lord called him and he followed and left me here. The pain is just unbearable, he was sick 9 months dx. in Jan. 06, I always I could take this. No way. Love you all, GloriaEngelMemberDear Karen,
Thank you for your encouraging words, the pain is so bad. My husband and I have been married 47 wonderful years, we were born in Hungary and lived in Germany after the war. I am 65 years old my husband was 69, I now have to take his ashes back to Hungary that is what he wanted. He always said that is where I was born and that should be my final resting place. This is so hard since he was not sick before and when he got MDS it was considered to be the mild kind and yet there is no easy road in this life. Karen, just love and hold on to your husband as hard as you can and ask lots of questions and don’t believe all the doctors tell you. Love, GloriaEngelMemberDear friends and dear Willie, how can one take such a loss, my husband was only 69 years and in excellent health until Jan. 06, and now he is gone. Willie how were you ale to cope? I have a very strong faith, but somehow it is not enough. I have two beautiful daughters who are always there for me, not enough? I hurt so much, we had 47 years of the best marriage, not enough? How does one go on. I need help. Love all you guys your so brave and you seem to be able to take all life has to offer, if it were not for my religious belief I would not hesitate to end this all, my life no longer has any meaning. I feel in
limpo and although I have a great family and many friends, I am alone. Please help me. GloriaEngelMemberDear friends,
You are my life line, I thank for your prayers.
Willie, yes they did many chest exrays, he has nothing in the lungs. Today he slept most of the day refuses to eat and when he does it comes up. His mind is great and he keeps telling me that he is not going anywhere but home again. His counts were as follows WBC 5.6,RBC 3.02,Plt. 19 and he has not had any transfusions for 3 days, his HGB 9.4, Blasts at 14.
Thanks for everything, GloriaEngelMemberDear Kristy and friends,
News not good, back in the hospital with infections and AML is back. At this time we can only treat the infection and then its chemo again. I know many of you would not do this, we however feel, whatever chance we have we must take. I have faith and know that there is a better place, but I am not ready to let my husband go. We have had 47 years, it was not enough. Need your prayers. Thank you friends.
Gloria
husband Kornel dx 01/06 MDS/RARS AML 05/06 chemo and full remission. 9/20/06 AML back and infecations.EngelMemberKristy,
You have tough decision to make. My husband 69,MDS in Jan.06, AML in May 06, decided on heavy chemo, 5 weeks in hospital, heart attack, minor stroke and blood clot in the hickman port, finally remission. Did consolidation chemo Vidaza first round o.k. second counts dropping fast back in the hospital with infection, still in remission from AML but so very weak. Is it all worth it I don’t know, I quess if it works it is, but there is a great big but.
Good luck and Blessings, GloriaEngelMemberGayle,
I can feel with you, my husband dx jan.06, with MDS/RARS it quickly turned to AML and he had chemo, went into complete remission for the AML, and is on consolidated chemo Vidaza, after 2 rounds it stopped. Now has infections and is on several antibiotics, low platelets, does not want to eat is 69 years old and wants me to do it all. I have so far but as you say it is hard and I just wish my husband would realize this. Take care,GloriaEngelMemberWillie,
So sorry to hear that your wife passed, she is with the Lord and in a far better place. We all have to go there she got there first and saving a first row seat for you. Blessings, GloriaEngelMemberLucy,
Our prayers are with you and your family, your Mom is in a better place. My husband was dx in jan. 06 like your Mom he advanced to AML, is in remission, but not doing to well with the new consolidated chemo, infections etc. Blessings, GloriaEngelMemberDear Susan,
You will get through this, God will be at your side. My husband was dx Jan.06 RARS like your Dad by the end of May AML, he had ara-C chemo and went into remission. I assumed all would be o.k. wrong, he is back to MDS and on Vidaza which kills his wbc and plt. and today he had to have a transfusion of platlets and blood, I know how hard this is. My husband is 69 and has been very active all his life, now he is tired all the time and I have to drive him everywhere, he used to do all the driving before. He also has a hard time accepting the fact that he will never get well,he is considered to old for SCT and that is the only cure. My faith in God and knowing that we are all on this earth for a short time keeps me going. My prayers are with you.
GloriaEngelMemberTerri,
