Carrie,
I am so sorry for the sadness you and your family will feel in the next weeks and months, but for your dad to celebrate his birthday in heaven and at peace what a wonderful gift. Prayers are for you today and for a long time to find peace and comfort.
God Bless, MarshaMarshaMemberI know that Gleevec is used for CML; but was not available to me for my CMML either. Tho, I have heard that they are trying it out on some MDS/CMML patients.

MarshaMemberI didn’t have a related match out of my 5 siblings, as are u I was very disappointed but I did find a donor thru the registry she is now my blood angel. Keep the faith, it is a bump but not one that can’t be handled. Prayers are with you all.

P.S. Have you noticed the number of younger people contracting CMML, I have. And it is alarming.
MarshaMemberMaribel,
I had CMML Dx in Feb 04, had a bone marrow transplant 11/04 an unrelated donor. I am from Wisconsin and went to the UW Hospital and Clinics, saw Dr Juckett. I am almost 9 mos out. I am fully grafted and making my own cells. my platlets are the last to come up but they are rising. Have a mild case of GVHD in my mouth and skin but can live with it. Trying to taper off meds slowly. I think since you have 2 different opinions, a 3rd would be wise. I know of people who are on a watch/wait program. I’m not saying that a BMT is the answer, but as far as I know it is the only cure. And with Ramiro being so young and otherwise healthy I would think that when he does need tx that would be an option. The “Hutch” is a very good place as well as MD Anderson. The UW Hospital/Clinics in Madison, WI follows the protocal of the “Hutch” in fact some of my lab work was sent there for analysis. Good luck to both of you.

Congrats to your parents on their 34th anniversary. Sometimes when I have a big day the next day I tend to be really low-key so wouldn’t surprise me if your dad is the same way.Good luck to your fiance’ on his new position. Will say a prayer for him to help.
